Las Vegas, Nevada – Steak N ‘Shake has been accepting Bitcoin payments for two weeks, but De Coo Dan Edwards of the American Fast Food Chain said it was already a “victory” for both the company and its customers.
Edwards said on Bitcoin 2025 in Las Vegas that Bitcoin payments have been faster and cheaper than traditional credit card payments.
“When customers choose to pay in Bitcoin instead of credit cards, we save around 50% in our processing costs,” said Edwards. “This means that Bitcoin is a victory for the customer, it is a victory for us as a trader, and it is a victory for the Bitcoin community.”
Edwards said that on May 16 the day that Steak n ‘Shake Bitcoin payments began to accept, one in 500 Bitcoin transactions took place worldwide at Steak N’ Shake.
“By accepting Bitcoin, we can meet our customers where our customers are,” said Edwards. “We wanted to offer our customers another feasible option to pay for our products. We understand that allowing customers with Bitcoin to pay in addition to cash and credit cards, places Bitcoin on the same footing with those methods that other worldwide payment methods.”
Edwards added that you can buy more than just a hamburger and beef fries with your bitcoin at Steak N ‘Shake-the company also allows potential franchisees to buy their franchises with Bitcoin.
Edwards, on the success of Bitcoin payments, said that the company is looking for other ways in which the technology can embrace its food in the future-including Robo-Taxis, Cyber chefs and drones.
